CREATE - a community and district wide systemic transformation model
CREATE is an Infundo product.
CREATE is a Community/District wide transformation process which enters communities at the level of the school. It takes into account (at the design and delivery levels) all the systemic levers which render performance redundant or obstructed in a community. It considers schools a starting point for change; a microcosm of the community levers which play out in the organisations which represent the humanity in each community.
CREATE is designed to take into account whole District and community area needs where schools form an important part of the whole system requiring transformation. Within CREATE the STAR model (download the detailed document below for more information) takes into account each individual school's needs separately for performance enhancement whilst ensuring a holistic systems transformation is being addressed.
First implemented in 2008/9 and tested over a number of years; refined in community; and designed against a scientifically driven model of transformation, CREATE project intentions grow performance in a community setting across the pillars of a community. This includes work in education; social development; psycho-social and emotional resilience; and the economy. Since these concepts and levers are inter-linked, work in one must be seen in the context of the others for true transformation, at depth, to take place.
Infundo Systems transformation is implemented in a non-linear phased approach. Whilst the design doesn't change; the specific needs and context of each project determines the rate of work; and the pillar which is addressed at each point. This non-linear approach contains Infundo specific IP which governs the implementation plan. This brings about performance changes and communities which can learn and adjust to change; with resilience and hope. it is experienced as a community or organisation in flow - where stakeholders are able to work together collaboratively towards a shared vision; and where ownership is embedded deep in the community.
A bespoke Monitoring and Evaluation framework is populated with indicators including human behavioural metrics and quantitative data which mirror the change in increased personal; team and organisational leadership in relationship and in the classroom. Impact is measured and tracked; and data is also used to inform changes and adjustments in strategic focus. Whilst being managed tightly CREATE is also flexible because as communities shift so do their needs and growth areas change. Infundo's ability to move and grow as communities grow is a distinctive competency which ensures ongoing evolution and growth of personal and system wide impact.
CREATE is a business driven strategy - the premise and principles align with our clients' needs to provide meaningful support to communities whilst also driving performance in line with their own business strategic focus. Thus Infundo is able to use the CREATE process to integrate community support requirements with a commensurate business driven strategy to meet client's long term needs for economic sustainability. It is in the combining of business and community impact that Infundo is able to grow mutually beneficial visions; for clients and communities alike.
CREATE has been rolled out in 3 different areas; with CREATE principles and learning to be found in the consulting model used by Infundo :
Ugie (Eastern Cape)- 10 years
Alexandra (Gauteng) - 7 years
Victoria West (Northern Cape) - 2 years

Ugie/Maclear - ECWe have worked in the Joe Qgabi District since mid 2009; starting in 3 high schools and subsequently working directly in 7 schools and indirectly via District structures in 22 schools; with the District officials; Principals; SMT's; teachers and learners. We also engage with unemployed youth and community stakeholders
|
Alexandra - Gauteng Infundo initially worked with 3 schools; and then adding additional schools - now working directly with 7 schools; and with the District officials. A community led leadership team comprising all the Principals and Deputies of the schools provide input into the overall Alex CREATE strategy and have, together with Infundo, introduced new projects such as the impact assessment and special needs programmes. This EXCO also drives partnerships with the project; and provides leadership into strategic direction and focus within the context they know best.
Through CREATE we work at all levels of the community and schools structures; and drives performance in each school within the Alex context. |
Victoria West - NCInfundo has worked with the VW schools since the start of 2019 - aligned to an Independent Power Producer directive to provide impact within 25kms of a wind farm. Infundo teams work across the schools; to work with stakeholders to ease systemic blockages and increase systemic maturity & resilience; leadership growth with community needs integration. It has included youth motivation; alongside specialist pedagogical input. Digital integration and the use of digital aids in the classroom was a particular focus area.
